Bhuvan Avnindra Shankar Bam (born 22 January 1994) is an Indian comedian, actor, singer, songwriter, writer, entrepreneur, and YouTube personality. He is best known for creating and performing the comedy channel BB Ki Vines, in which he portrays multiple fictional characters. His work later expanded into music, digital series, acting, production, and long-form entertainment projects.

Early life and education

Bhuvan Bam was born on 22 January 1994 in Vadodara, Gujarat. His family later moved to Delhi, where he grew up and completed his schooling. He attended Green Fields School before studying history at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, University of Delhi.

Before becoming a full-time digital creator, Bam was interested in music and performance. He worked as a musician and performed at restaurants in Delhi before establishing himself as an internet creator. His transition from performing music to producing comedy videos became the foundation of his later career.

Career

BB Ki Vines

Bam began his internet career with short comedy videos and established the YouTube channel BB Ki Vines in June 2015. The channel developed a distinctive format in which Bam writes and performs several characters, frequently portraying conversations among members of a fictional family and their acquaintances.

The early videos were produced with relatively simple equipment and were initially shared on Facebook before Bam shifted his focus to YouTube. The format became known for its short sketches, recurring characters and conversational comedy.

Among the recurring characters associated with BB Ki Vines are Bhuvan, Banchoddas, Sameer Fuddi, Titu Mama, Babloo, Janki, Mrs. Verma, Adrak Baba, Mr. Hola, Papa Maakichu, Detective Mangloo and Babli Sir. Bam's ability to portray multiple characters became one of the defining features of the channel.

Forbes India reported that Bam became the first Indian YouTuber to cross 10 million subscribers. He was subsequently included in the Forbes India 30 Under 30 list in the digital content creators category.

Music career

Alongside comedy, Bam developed a career as a singer and songwriter. In August 2016, he released the music video Teri Meri Kahani. He subsequently released songs including Sang Hoon Tere, Safar, Rahguzar, Bas Mein, Ajnabee and Heer Ranjha.

His music has also been connected with his screen projects. For Dhindora, he performed songs including Saazish and Bann Gayi Zindagi. He also appeared as a singer on the Indian television programme MTV Unplugged.

Titu Talks

In December 2018, Bam introduced Titu Talks, a digital interview series centred on his character Titu Mama. The programme combined celebrity interviews with the character-driven comedy associated with BB Ki Vines.

The first episode featured Shah Rukh Khan. Later episodes included personalities from film and entertainment. Bam also presented a live segment of Titu Talks during the 2019 YouTube FanFest, where Karan Johar appeared as a guest.

Acting and short films

Bam expanded into acting with the short film Plus Minus, in which he appeared alongside Divya Dutta. The film received recognition at the Filmfare Awards, winning the 2019 award for Best Short Film.

His performance work subsequently moved from short-form digital comedy to scripted web series and streaming productions.

Dhindora

In October 2021, Bam launched Dhindora, a scripted comedy-drama series built around characters originating from the BB Ki Vines universe. Bam served as an actor as well as a writer and producer on the project.

The first season was released on YouTube and consisted of eight episodes. Bam portrayed multiple characters in the series, continuing the multi-character performance style that had become associated with his earlier work.

A second season has been developed as a continuation of the series, expanding the story and its characters beyond the first season.

Taaza Khabar

Bam made his OTT acting debut with Taaza Khabar, a Hindi comedy-drama series that premiered in January 2023. He played Vasant "Vasya" Gawde, a sanitation worker in Mumbai whose life changes after gaining the ability to receive news before it happens.

The series was produced under BB Ki Vines Productions, with Bam serving as a producer in addition to playing the lead role.

The second season premiered on Disney+ Hotstar on 27 September 2024. Bam returned as Vasya, with the series continuing the character's story.

Other screen work

In 2023, Bam appeared in the comedy series Rafta Rafta, where he played Karan Malhotra and also served as a producer. The series was released through Amazon miniTV.

His television and digital appearances have included programmes such as One Mic Stand, The Kapil Sharma Show, Bigg Boss 15, Bingo Comedy Adda, Maharashtrachi Hasyajatra and Kaun Banega Crorepati.

The Revolutionaries

In 2026, Bam appeared in the period drama series The Revolutionaries, directed by Nikkhil Advani. The series is based on the Indian independence movement and focuses on revolutionaries who opposed British rule.

Bam portrays revolutionary leader Rash Behari Bose, alongside Rohit Saraf, Pratibha Ranta and Gurfateh Pirzada. The series premiered on Amazon Prime Video in September 2026.

The role represented a departure from Bam's earlier comedy-focused performances and gave him an opportunity to portray a historical figure in a period drama.

Film projects

Bam has also moved into feature films. In 2026, he was reported to be making his Bollywood debut with Kuku Ki Kundali, directed by Sharan Sharma and co-starring Wamiqa Gabbi.

The project was announced as a romantic comedy and represents Bam's transition from digital and streaming productions toward feature-film acting.

Production

Bam has expanded his work beyond acting and content creation through BB Ki Vines Productions. The production company has been involved in projects including Taaza Khabar and other digital entertainment productions.

His role in production has allowed him to participate in the development of projects in addition to appearing in them. His work has included acting, writing, producing and developing characters and stories for digital platforms.

Public recognition

Bam has received recognition from entertainment and business publications. In 2020, he was included in the Forbes India 30 Under 30 list in the digital content creators category.

In 2019, Plus Minus won the Filmfare Award for Best Short Film. Bam also received nominations at the Filmfare OTT Awards for his performances in Dhindora, Taaza Khabar and Rafta Rafta.

In 2023, he won the Bollywood Hungama Style Icons award for Most Stylish Digital Entertainer (Male).

His work has also received attention from publications including Hindustan Times, Rolling Stone India and Grazia India.

Personal life

Bam's parents, Avnindra and Padma Bam, died in 2021 from complications related to COVID-19. In later interviews, he discussed the effect of their deaths on his personal life and creative work.
