== Early life ==

Sharon Verma was born in Patna, Bihar, and spent her early years in the city. She attended '''Delhi Public School, Patna''' before completing her senior-school education at '''Delhi Public School R. K. Puram''' in New Delhi.

During school, Verma participated in literary and academic activities. She developed an interest in writing at an early age and was involved with her school's literary activities.

She later moved to Delhi for higher education, beginning a path that eventually led to professional writing and creative work.

== Education ==

Verma studied at '''Hansraj College''' of the University of Delhi from 2017 to 2020, where she completed a bachelor's degree in English Literature.

While at Hansraj College, she was associated with the college's dramatics society. Her involvement in writing and theatre provided experience that later complemented her work in advertising and comedy. <ref>{{cite web |url=https://in.linkedin.com/in/sharonverma |title=Sharon Verma professional profile |publisher=LinkedIn |access-date=2026-09-17}}</ref>

== Writing and creative career ==

Before becoming widely known for stand-up comedy, Verma worked in advertising, copywriting and creative strategy.

Her early professional experience included copywriting positions and internships with organizations such as Ashlar Education, Great Learning, Blue Vector and USTRAA. She later worked with creative agencies including Hashtag Orange and Kinnect.

At Kinnect, she worked on creative accounts involving brands including Adidas, Nokia and Too Yumm. She subsequently joined '''The Rabbit Hole''' as a Senior Creative Executive, where her work included conceptualising and writing social-media content for Netflix India. <ref>{{cite web |url=https://starsunfolded.com/sharon-verma/ |title=Sharon Verma Age, Family, Biography |publisher=StarsUnfolded |access-date=2026-09-17}}</ref>

== Disney+ Hotstar ==

Verma later joined '''Disney+ Hotstar''' as a Senior Creative Executive in Mumbai.

Her responsibilities included creative conceptualisation and scriptwriting for promotional campaigns associated with films and shows available on the platform. One of the projects associated with her writing work was promotional content for the 2022 film '''Govinda Naam Mera'''.

Her experience in digital entertainment marketing gave her an extensive background in writing scripts designed for social-media audiences before she began concentrating more heavily on her own comedy career. <ref>{{cite web |url=https://starsunfolded.com/sharon-verma/ |title=Sharon Verma biography |publisher=StarsUnfolded |access-date=2026-09-17}}</ref>

== Stand-up comedy ==

Verma began performing stand-up comedy in Mumbai in 2024. Her material often draws from everyday experiences, personal observations, work, relationships, identity and life as a young Indian woman.

Her style combines writing-driven jokes with observational and self-aware humour. She has also used her experiences from Bihar and her professional life as material for performances.

Before gaining a large online audience, she performed in comedy-club and open-mic environments in Mumbai.

== India's Got Latent ==

Verma gained wider recognition after appearing as a contestant on the first season of '''India's Got Latent''', the comedy and entertainment show hosted by [[Samay Raina]].

Her performance included material about her background and her description of herself as a "weak independent woman." The phrase became associated with her public comedy persona and was widely discussed following the episode.

Her appearance helped introduce her work to a substantially larger online audience and contributed to the growth of her social-media following. <ref>{{cite web |url=https://www.hindustantimes.com/entertainment/web-series/who-is-sharon-verma-participant-turned-panellist-left-samay-raina-speechless-with-kashmir-joke-on-indias-got-latent-2-101787993166933.html |title=Who is Sharon Verma? |publisher=Hindustan Times |date=2026-08-29 |access-date=2026-09-17}}</ref>

== Online presence ==

Following her appearance on India's Got Latent, Verma expanded her presence across social-media and video platforms.

Her online work includes stand-up clips and comedy material. Her public profile has continued to grow alongside her live performances and appearances in digital entertainment.

Her professional background in copywriting remains visible in the way she develops short-form jokes, scripts and social-media content.

== Return to India's Got Latent ==

Verma later returned to '''India's Got Latent''' during its second season, this time appearing as a panellist rather than only as a contestant.

Her return increased her visibility among viewers who had first encountered her through the show's earlier season. Media coverage in August 2026 highlighted her exchanges with Samay Raina and her transition from participant to panellist. <ref>{{cite web |url=https://www.news9live.com/entertainment/celebrity/sharon-verma-all-about-this-comedian-who-matched-samay-raina-punch-for-punch-on-indias-got-latent-2-3003510 |title=Sharon Verma: All about this comedian who matched Samay Raina punch for punch on India's Got Latent 2 |publisher=News9Live |date=2026-08-30 |access-date=2026-09-17}}</ref>

== Comedy themes ==

Verma's comedy is generally based on personal experiences and observations rather than a single recurring subject. Her material has included references to growing up in Bihar, professional life, relationships, independence and contemporary urban experiences.

Her writing background has influenced her ability to construct short-form jokes and scripted material for digital audiences.

Her public identity as a "weak independent woman" has also become a recurring element associated with her comedy following her appearance on India's Got Latent.

== Professional transition ==

Verma's career represents a transition from behind-the-scenes creative work to performing in front of audiences.

Her early professional years were spent writing advertising campaigns, social-media scripts and promotional content for major consumer and entertainment brands. Stand-up comedy later provided a platform for her to present her own writing and experiences directly.

The combination of advertising experience, entertainment writing and live comedy has become a defining feature of her professional profile.

== Public profile ==

By 2026, Verma had become a recognizable emerging name in India's stand-up comedy scene. Her appearances on India's Got Latent and her growing social-media audience have expanded her reach beyond the Mumbai comedy circuit.

She continues to combine live stand-up performances with digital content and writing.
